A Premier Botanical Garden
A brand new botanical garden is taking root in the Osage Hills of Oklahoma just eight miles northwest of downtown Tulsa. The Garden site is one of contrasts – views of the Downtown Tulsa skyline, wide-open spaces filled with bright wildflowers and swaying grasses, and rolling hills bedecked with gnarled old oaks.
The Garden site comprises 170 acres of forest and prairie, all of which were donated to become one of America's finest botanical gardens. Plans call for 60 acres to be developed into gardens and features and 110 acres to be maintained in a natural state. Over 375 species of plants have been identified on the site! The soils are thin, silty loams that sit atop sandstone and clay.
